Our Lady of Chiquinquira

Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá is a revered painting created by the Spanish artist Alonso de Narváez in the 16th century. The painting depicts the Virgin Mary holding the child Jesus and a rosary. It gained significant devotion and recognition due to a series of miraculous events surrounding it. The painting was originally in poor condition but was miraculously restored by divine intervention. The image became a source of spiritual inspiration and devotion for the people of Chiquinquirá, Colombia. Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá is considered the patroness of Colombia and is venerated for her intercession in matters of faith, reconciliation, and healing. The painting is housed in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá, where it continues to be a pilgrimage site and a symbol of faith for countless believers. The feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá is celebrated on July 9th, drawing crowds of faithful who gather to honor Mary and seek her maternal intercession.
